INDIANAPOLIS IN Dec 9 2010 — The owner of an Indianapolis-based racing company was arrested Monday, accused of bringing a loaded gun into Indianapolis International Airport.

Security screeners spotted the gun in the carry-on bag of Christopher Paulsen, 51, as it passed through an X-ray machine, according to a police report.

Paulsen, president and owner of C & R Racing, told police he had forgotten the handgun was in his luggage.

He was flying to North Carolina with his wife after last week’s International Motorsports Industry Show in Indianapolis, of which he is a co-founder.

Paulsen is a former race car driver, mechanic and a member of the Indianapolis 500 Hall of Fame nominating committee.

He was arrested and preliminarily charged with possession of a weapon in an airport.
