Garden City KS DEC 20 2010 A former Garden City High School teacher will face sentencing in January after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a 17-year-old student.
David Goscinski entered a plea of guilty to criminal sexual conduct, third degree, in a hearing before Judge James R. Chylinski on Tuesday, Dec. 14.
Goscinski was arrested Oct. 14 and accused of having sexual contact with a 17-year-old Garden City High School student from September until Oct. 13. He also was accused of having given obscene material to the victim and used a computer to send obscene material to her.
The 37-year-old Woodhaven resident had been charged with four counts of criminal sexual conduct, third degree, with a student, a 15-year felony, and distributing obscene material to a minor, a two-year felony, and a charge of using a computer to commit a felony, punishable by two years but less than four years in prison.
Goscinski is being held in the Wayne County Jail since Nov. 11 when his bond was modified after he allegedly attempted to commit suicide on Oct. 29 by driving his vehicle into the Detroit River.
Goscinski will be sentenced on Jan. 7.
