EDINBURGH IN Dec 20 2010 — A security officer was injured during a shoplifting incident Saturday afternoon at Edinburgh Premium Outlets, according to police.

Deputy Chief David Lutz of Edinburgh Police Department said a private security officer who they have not yet named, was injured trying to stop a theft in progress at one of the outlet mall stores.

As the suspect attempted to drive off in a truck, somehow the security officer got tangled with the vehicle and was dragged about 40 feet, Lutz said.

The security officer sustained numerous injuries and was taken to an area hospital but his condition is not currently known.

Police are still looking for the driver of the vehicle.
