FRESNO, Calif. Dec 20 2010 — The man arrested for stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of expensive handbags while working at a Fresno Macy’s store is going to prison.
Richard Norton was arrested in October of last year and pleaded guilty to the crimes back in September. Friday he was sentenced to 2 and a half years in federal prison.
Police say a security guard at the store saw Norton leaving with designer purses stuffed in his pants.
Norton was a 22-year employee at Macy’s and just days away from retiring.
He admitted to stealing merchandise over four years, including wallets and other items totaling about $900,000.
