Police charge man in death of Alabama paramedic www.privateofficer.com

MONTGOMERY, Ala.Jan 23 2011 (AP) – A 42-year-old man from Montgomery has been criminally charged for an accident that killed a paramedic on icy roads.

Alabama police arrested 42-year-old Robert Cumbie on Friday and charged him with the vehicular homicide of 29-year-old Laura Pullam.

Police said Pullam was responding to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 on Dec. 15 when she was struck by Cumbie’s pickup truck.

Sgt. Steve Jarrett of the state Department of Public Safety said Cumbie was speeding and passing emergency vehicles while the road was icy.
