March 23, 2011 Pilots file lawsuit over TSA invasive searches www.privateofficer.com
Atlanta GA March 23 2011 A lawsuit was filed by two US commercial airline pilots regarding the new screening procedures as they stated that due to this privacy rights were violated and they were too encompassing.
There were concerns that militants can easily hide bombs under clothes and can be a threat to the entire plane and following this air travelers were required by the US Transportation Security Administration to go through full-body scanners or physical patdowns and air crew was also suppose to go through this.
Excessive radiation threat was what pilots and flight crews complained they were facing with the new procedures as they are suppose to go for frequent flights and when they already control the planes the unnecessary security is not needed.
The procedures were however revised by the Transportation Security Administration on November 13 but a lawsuit regarding the procedures was filed by two pilots under the US Constitution’s Fourth Amendment, which limits unreasonable searches and seizures.
One of the pilots who filed the lawsuit is Ann Poe and she states that she would always set off the metal detector because she has an artificial hip and following this will always be subjected to an enhanced patdown.
