Teen party out of control requires police with pepper spray www.privateofficer.com
Two girls between the ages of 14 and 18 got into a fight on the dance floor shortly before 10 p.m., Moraga police Chief Robert Priebe said. The fight, which primarily featured hair-pulling, eventually spilled out into the lobby of the theatre and a private security company hired to oversee the event called police, Priebe said.
Nobody was arrested in the fracas, which ended when the teenagers dispersed after pepper spray was used, Priebe said. The Moraga-Orinda Fire District also was called to the scene to tend to a handful of teenagers who were sickened by pepper spray, Priebe said.
The New Rheem Theatre has been hosting “Teen Night” parties since August. The event is a gathering of kids for dancing and DJing, and is sanctioned by private groups. An event to be hosted by three Lamorinda high schools is scheduled for later this spring and despite what happened Friday, there are no plans to cancel it, Priebe said.
