San Antonio TX police officer commits suicide at CVS store www.privateofficer.com
SAN ANTONIO TX May 23 2011 – Friday was a very sad day for the San Antonio Police Department as one of their officers took their own life in the parking lot of a West Side business. It happened in the parking lot of the CVS Pharmacy at Bandera and Woodlawn Avenue.
An officer who was at that location noticed a pickup truck that was parked irregularly. She went to check it out, and found a man dead inside the truck from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police later realized it was an off duty officer.
Police Chief Bill McManus says this is obviously very difficult for the force to deal with.
“Well, we don’t know what the issues were. Obviously, I wish there is something we would have known, and if we would have known it, maybe we could have helped,” Chief McManutold News 4 WOAI.
The Bexar County medical examiner’s office has released the name of a San Antonio police officer and have identified him as John Corona, 44, who died of a single contact gunshot wound to the head, the medical examiner’s office said.
He was found dead in a pickup parked at a CVS pharmacy in the 900 block of Bandera Road around 3:30 p.m. Friday, officials said.
According to the Texas Tribune, Corona was hired by SAPD in October 1995.
