Hawaii resort security nabs man in act of murder www.privateofficer.com
Philip Howard Zimmerman is being held at the Kona police cellblock on suspicion of second-degree murder, according to a news release by the Hawaii (County) Police Department. Detectives are still investigating the slaying of Susan Brockert, 44.
South Kohala police responded to an emergency call at a resort on North Kaniku Drive at 11:18 p.m. Monday, according to the news release. Resort employees had received calls from guests reporting screams coming from a guest room. When resort security rushed to the room, one staff member witnessed Brockert being struck on the head with an object, according to the news release. The employees entered the room, called 911 and held Zimmerman until police arrived.
Brockert was taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital. She died at 12:23 a.m. Tuesday, according to the news release.
Zimmerman and Brockert were registered at the resort together, the release said.
