Daytona Beach Fla May 26 2011 A woman was arrested outside Ocean Walk Shoppes after police say she threatened to blow up the shopping center.
Maureen A. Falardeau, 44, is charged with threatening to place a destructive device, a felony.
According to police reports, Falardeau was picking cigarette butts from ashtrays at the 250 N. Atlantic Ave. property on Monday. When confronted by a security guard, Falardeau responded by claiming to be a Jihadist, then asked the guard how he would like it if she “bombed this place.”
Falardeau then began walking away. As she left, she pointed at the building and repeatedly said, “I am going to bomb this place.”
The security guard immediately called police and kept an eye on Falardeau as she walked down Atlantic before police arrived.
Falardeau is being held in the Volusia County Branch Jail on $5,000 bail.
