Houston mall outlaws sagging pants www.privateofficer.com
Houston TX June 25 2011 Teenagers with sagging pants are everywhere. One Houston mall is trying to put an end to that trend.
The Greenspoint mall in Houston recently added a “no sagging pants policy” and says security will ask saggy-panted shoppers to pull their pants up. If they refuse, they will be asked to leave.
Private businesses have the right to enforce a dress code as long as the rules do not discriminate by race, religion or gender.
“The rationale is they have a lot of people coming the mall and they have to cater to a lot of concerns, and most people are uncomfortable around people whose pants are halfway down,” said legal analyst Joel Androphy.
“I’m going to wear my clothes the way I want to wear them, because I’m buying them. You know you can’t tell me how to wear my clothes,” said shopper Derrick Johnson.
