EL DORADO COUNTY, CA Oct 21 2011- Doran Long, a security officer at a Richmond apartment building, was taken into custody Thursday morning in Shingle Springs after Richmond police say he shot his supervisor at the complex’s security office.

Lt. Bisa French of the Richmond Police Department said the shooting took place around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Hartnett Avenue.

According to French, Long had an altercation with his supervisor earlier in the day, returned later and began shooting into the apartment building. The supervisor was shot and wounded.

Two other security officers heard the gunshots and ran toward the area, where they saw Long shooting into the building. At least one of these officers returned fire, said French.

Long then fled in his truck and police were notified of the shooting.

Officers located Long early Thursday morning following a brief chase on Highway 50.

He was caught and arrested by El Dorado County Sheriff’s deputies and CHP officers on Highway 50 at Ponderosa Road around 5:30 a.m.

French said Long also shot several rounds into his neighbor’s yard in Concord before returning to the apartment complex.

Long’s supervisor is expected to survive his injuries, said French.

Highway 50, which had been closed during the incident, was reopened shortly after Long’s arrest.
