KNOXVILLE TN Oct 29 2011 – Two men were arrested Friday in Knoxville for stealing storm drain covers in North Knoxville.
Police responded to a call about the thefts just after 9:00 a.m. in the area of Buffat Mill Road and Brice Street.
Two men in a white pickup truck were seen removing large storm water covers from streets. Police say similar activity has been reported over the last several days in East Knoxville.
An officer pulled over a 1983 Chevrolet pickup truck going west on Buffat Mill.
The driver was driving on a suspended license and several storm drain covers were in the bed of the truck, according to police.
Timmy Ollis, 47, and Gary Manuel, both of South Knoxville, were taken into custody for theft and reckless endangerment.
Police say more charges are pending the outcome of the investigation, and more people may be connected to metal thefts in the area.
