Texas volunteer firefighter lost her arm in traffic crash www.privateofficer.com
Authorities said there were several accidents after the driver of a semitrailer carrying crude oil fell asleep Thursday morning, causing the tanker to run off the road and burst into flames near Sour Lake, about 75 miles northeast of Houston.
Theresa Wigley of the Hardin County emergency management office says Kimberly Huckabee, a Pinewood volunteer firefighter, had her arm amputated in surgery after she was struck by another semitrailer.
Authorities say the truck driver was hospitalized in stable condition. Traffic on the highway was shut down, and about 6,700 gallons of crude oil in the tanker were allowed to burn out.
