The latest security-police news

Reno NV Nov 30 2011 A 54-year-old Reno gambler was arrested after he accidentally left behind a laptop in a downtown casino that was filled with images of child pornography.
Jeff R. Stewart on Monday was being held in the Washoe County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail on nine counts of possession of child pornography.

Reno police said they are continuing to investigate and more charges could be forthcoming.

A guest at the Eldorado Hotel and Casino on Saturday afternoon had alerted security that someone had left a laptop — hanging in a shoulder case — on the back of a chair in front of a slot machine, according to a police report.

While security looked at computer files on the laptop to determine the identity of the owner, they saw images of children, around 10 years old, engaged in sexual behavior, the report said.

Soon after Reno police arrived, Stewart reported to casino security he had accidentally left behind his laptop. He said he had been gambling, and then left it in a case hanging on the back of a chair. Stewart described it to authorities, and then showed officers pictures of himself that were on the laptop, the report said.
After officers confronted him with the images of child pornography, authorities said he told them they were his, and he knew it was illegal.
