Oakland County MI Dec 22 2011 A Michigan EMT collapsed and died Tuesday morning while transporting a patient according to a news report published by The Oakland (Mich.) Press.
Bill Rose, 42, an EMT Basic with Star EMS, collapsed outside a hospital in Pontiac and fell to the ground, according to the newspaper report.
Before he collapsed, Rose told his partner he needed oxygen and collapsed. The newspaper reported that the psychiatric patient was trying to get off the stretcher at the time. Rose’s partner immediately summoned help from the Doctor’s Hospital of Michigan and he was taken inside.
A CT scan indicated he did not die from a head injury and the cause of death appears to be natural, according to the news report. Rose was taken to Oakland County Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy.
The newspaper quoted Bill Grubb, the CEO of Star EMS, who said Rose had worked with the company since June 2008 and was enrolled in the paramedic program with a plan to get his license in Nov.2012.
“He never had a bad word to say about anybody,” Grubb told The Oakland Press. “He was one of those guys who was extremely passionate, would do anything for anybody else. He was dependable, a good coworker and a part of the family.”
