FREDERICKBURG, VA Dec 22 2011 – A 25-year-old Spotsylvania woman was arrested Wednesday in connection with the theft of an 80-pound Baby Jesus at a Fredericksburg shopping mall.
Amanda Crelia was charged with grand larceny for her involvement in the theft of the religious icon at the Central Park shopping center last week.
Police found the baby inside Crelia’s father’s garage, where detectives said she stashed the stolen figure.
Crelia was released on a personal recognizance bond Wednesday morning.
Police said Crelia uploaded a picture of the stolen statue on her Facebook page.
Fredericksburg Police Department spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said police recovered the figure after someone spotted the photo on Facebook and called police.
The Baby Jesus figure was returned to its place outside the shopping center last Friday.
