CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. Dec 25 2011 – One of the men wanted for stealing nearly $6,000 worth of merchandise was taken into police custody Friday.
Clarksville Police arrested David Saunders around 1:30 a.m. Friday. Officers said Saunders was arrested after shoplifting from the Kroger store in Dover Crossing.
Police said that Saunders was with Joseph Adkins, who is also wanted in several shoplifting cases and has several outstanding warrants.
According to the report, Saunders and Adkins were confronted by a Loss Prevention officer from Kroger about the shoplifting from the store. Saunders returned to the store and was held by the officer, but Adkins fled the scene.
Saunders has been booked into the Montgomery County Jail and was charged with burglary, criminal impersonation and theft, in addition to the nine warrants already pending against him.
Police are still searching for Joseph Adkins. Adkins, an AWOL soldier, was wanted on six outstanding warrants- including felony theft. Police said Adkins had only been out of jail since October 2011, after serving time for a DUI charge.
Anyone with information about Adkins or his whereabouts was asked to call Clarksville Police at (931) 645-8477.
