COLUMBUS, Miss.Dec 25 2011 — A Columbus Police Department reserve officer has been charged with embezzlement.
Police department spokesman Officer Terry Songer told the Commercial Dispatch that 39-year-old Eric Maurice Lewis was arrested Tuesday.
Songer said Lewis has been arrested in connection with the charging of about $8,000 of Lowe’s merchandise to a contractor’s credit card account at the store. Lewis works at the store.
Police said 34-year-old Seneca Harbin of Kilmichael was arrested in August and charged with fraudulent use of an ID.
Police said the incidents occurred between April and May.
Songer said Lewis, who had been a reserve officer less than a year, was released on his own recognizance. His next court date is Jan. 19.
