FREDERICKSBURG, Va. Jan 10 2012 - A Virginia police officer faces charges after investigators say he allegedly had inappropriate personal contact with a teenage boy he met online.

46-year-old Brent Mitchell Taylor, a captain with the Fredericksburg Police Department, faces charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Police say that early on January 7, officers found a 17-year-old boy walking on Warrenton Road in Fredericksburg.

The boy told officers that he locked himself out of the room Taylor had rented at a nearby Motel 6 and was waiting for him to return.

When Taylor arrived at the room later in the morning, he was placed under arrest.

Officers believe Taylor picked up the teen in Fairfax without his parent’s permission and brought him to the motel.

Taylor is a 24-year veteran and a captain of the detective division.

He is married and has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the internal investigation.
