Chicago IL Jan 14 2012 A school security guard appeared in court today accused of taking a laptop computer from the Chicago public school she is employed by in Rogers Park.
Margarita Gomez, 51, of the 2400 block of South Spaulding Avenue, was charged with one count of felony theft, accused of taking a Dell laptop computer from Gale Math and Science Academy in the 1600 block of West Jonquil Terrace, police said.
On Friday, Gomez appeared in Cook County Criminal Court for a bond hearing but information was not immediately available about the hearing, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s office.
Gomez was arrested in the 7600 block of North Marshfield Avenue at 2:43 p.m. Thursday, police said. The Marshfield address is listed as an annex building for the academy, according to a recorded message for the school.
Records show Gomez is a school security officer for Gale whose annual salary is about $25,000.
