STOCKTON, CA Jan 14 2012 - Stockton police responded to a call of shots fired at the parking lot of the West Lane Bingo Hall in Stockton around 8 p.m. Thursday.

According to Stockton Police Sgt. Ivan Rose, an unspecified number of men trying to break into cars in the parking lot were overheard by a bingo hall security guard. When the guard went to investigate, he heard one man tell another to “hurry up”.

Rose said one of the suspects spotted the security guard, and reached into his waistband. The security guard ran back inside the building and two shots were fired through the door.

The suspects fled in an older model white van with a lift on the back.

Nobody was hit by gunfire, but two elderly individuals were hospitalized with anxiety related ailments, said Rose.

One vehicle in the parking lot was burglarized.
