NASHVILLE, Tenn Jan 28 2012 (AP) — A Coffee County woman has been arrested on charges she embezzled approximately $240,000 from a company where she worked as a bookkeeper.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Thursday that 60-year-old Carolyn Bell Jones was indicted after Vickers Concrete Reinforcing reported suspicious transactions.

Agents said she stole the money between 2004 and 2011, paying her personal expenses out of company funds, then altering the records to cover up the theft.

Jail spokesmen were unavailable Thursday evening to say whether Jones had an attorney who could comment on her behalf.
