Memphis City Schools security officer arrested for interfering in police investigation www.privateofficer.com
Memphis TN Jan 29 2012 A Memphis City Schools security officer was arrested today after being accused of interfering in a rape investigation involving a 14-year-old girl.
Tuesday, MCS security officials told police that the officer found the suspected rapist had sexually explicit photos of the victim on his cellphone, according to a police affidavit.
He advised the suspect to avoid getting into trouble by deleting the photos, and the suspect did, according to the affidavit.
Phillip Cotton, 41, was charged with tampering with or fabricating evidence.
Further details on the investigation, as well as what school Cotton works at, were not released.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
Bond for Cotton has not been set.
