Former Nashville teacher indicted for rape of female student www.privateofficer.com
NASHVILLE, Tenn. March 3 2012- A former Glencliff High School surrendered herself Friday evening after being indicted by a grand jury on several counts of statutory rape.
Police said that 29-year-old Kyra Bryant was indicted by a grand jury on four counts of statutory rape by an authority figure for allegedly having sexual relations with a 17-year-old female student.
Officials said that Bryant developed a relationship with the student, while she was in Bryant’s class last fall. The two are alleged to have engaged in sexual activities in Bryant’s classroom during school hours and also at the girl’s home.
According to court documents an investigation into the relationship began early this month when officials at Glencliff received an anonymous letter indicating that there was a sexual relationship between Bryant and the victim.
Bryant resigned from her teaching position shortly after the investigation began.
