Shoplifter drops pants and showed store employees his butt www.privateofficer.com
BAXTER TN May 10 2012 – It wasn’t just his alleged shoplifting that got a Cookeville man arrested in Baxter on Thursday.
It was also how Justin Lyn Key reacted when confronted by a store employee, according to the Baxter Police Department.
Key, 25, of Sunflower Lane, Cookeville, is charged with theft of merchandise, indecent exposure, and public intoxication in the case, say warrants filed by Sgt. Jeremy Laycock.
It happened on May 3 at the Dollar Store at 6376 Nashville Highway, Baxter.
A store employee confronted Key about “items” he had allegedly concealed and had not paid for, one warrant says.
Allegedly, when confronted, Key “started running down the aisle ways throwing the items he had concealed and even dropped his pants and exposed his naked rear section to the Dollar General store employees,” the warrant says.
Also, he had dilated pupils, slurred speech, was unsteady on his feet and “kept attempting to pass out,” the officer alleges.
Sgt. Laycock said he was dispatched to the store that day on a report of a disturbance there. He said the value of the items Key allegedly concealed was $110.
Key was arrested and booked into the Putnam County jail, where his total bond was set at $2,000. He made bond and was released.
