Vacum cleaner thief indicted on robbery charges www.privateofficer.com
Mantua NJ June 2 2012 Gloucester County A Runnemede man has been indicted by a Gloucester County grand jury on charges he stole vacuum cleaners from Target stores in Mantua and Washington townships.
Michael J. Froberg, 25, is charged with shoplifting in the alleged Mantua incident and robbery in relation to the alleged Washington Township incident.
Froberg stole two Dyson vacuum cleaners from each store on Feb. 24, according to the indictment. In Washington Township, he was confronted by the store’s loss prevention officer.
Froberg told the officer he had a weapon, according to the complaint. He did not possess such a weapon, according to Bernie Weisenfeld, spokesman for the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.
Regardless, for placing the officer in fear of harm, what would normally be a shoplifting change was elevated to robbery, Weisenfeld said.
