Man found dead near Hillsboro Airport committed suicide www.privateofficer.com
Hillsboro OR Aug 11 2012 A man found dead near the Hillsboro Airport Wednesday died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said Friday.
Police identified the man as 36-year-old Joshua Colvin, of Wisconsin.
Sgt. Eric Bunday, a Hillsboro police spokesman, said Colvin was reported missing in Minnesota. Colvin’s family had no contact with him for a few weeks, he said.
Police didn’t find that Colvin had any ties to Oregon or any reason why he was in Hillsboro.
“We have no information as to why he wound up in Oregon,” Bunday said.
Two teenagers walking to the library along a wooded trail, between Northeast Cornell and Airport roads, discovered his body about 4 p.m. Wednesday.
The teens called 9-1-1, and police began investigating.
Officers found the man’s body face-up and decomposing, about 20 yards off the dirt trail and 200 yards south of Airport Road. They located a handgun between his legs and a red guncase nearby.
An autopsy was completed Thursday. Investigators determined the death was a suicide; his cause of death was listed as a gunshot would to the head.
“We’ve ruled out any kind of foul play,” Bunday said.
