Billings MT Target security agent charged in thefts www.privateofficer.com

Billings MT Dec 1 2012 A woman whose job was to protect against theft at a Target store in Billings has been charged with embezzling nearly $12,000.
The Billings Gazette reports ( http://bit.ly/QHggoj) 34-year-old Rachel Marie Purcell pleaded not guilty Monday during a hearing before District Judge Gregory Todd.
Prosecutors allege officials with Target’s corporate headquarters inSeattle called the Billings store in June 2011 to report significant cash shortages. Purcell was initially assigned to investigate because she was the store’s “asset protection team leader.”
Later, the company sent an investigator who found a store surveillance camera was inexplicably turned off during the thefts. The investigator installed another camera that captured Purcell taking money from the cash drawer.
Purcell told investigators she felt pressured to steal because her husband complained she did not make enough money.
