CHARLESTON, SC Dec 18 2012
The school bus driver accused of groping a girl twice while on his route was granted a $30,000 bond last week.
According to Charleston police records, 47-year-old Macneil Deas, of Adams Run, was taken into custody Friday morning. He was granted a $15,000 bond on each count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor during a court hearing, Charleston County court records indicate.
According to the juvenile victim, the first assault happened almost a year ago, when Deas took his open hand and “brushed it across her chest.” The second alleged assault happened about a month ago, when the victim says Deas grabbed and squeezed her buttocks as she was exiting the bus at her stop.
Police say Deas, an employee of Durham Bus Services, has been placed on administrative leave.
The victim reported the abuse on Nov. 5. She told police she had not told anyone about the incidents because she was scared and unsure what to do.
As of Monday, Deas had been released from the Charleston County Detention Center.
