CHESTERFIELD, VA Jan 9 2013
Chesterfield Police have charged 32-year-old Tanesha Westmoreland with taking indecent liberties with a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after she allegedly had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 16-year-old.
The alleged victim was a client of Westmoreland’s at River City Comprehensive Counseling Services.
Jimmy Christmas, the CEO of River City Comprehensive, said Westmoreland worked for the company for almost three years.
“Clients loved her and staff loved her,” said Christmas. “She was a wonder to have around the office.”
According to court documents, the relationship began in March 2012 and ended on December 10, 2012.
Christmas said he fired Westmoreland when another mental health organization notified him of the alleged affair. Then, Westmoreland confided in a co-worker about the relationship.
River City Comprehensive launched an internal investigation and says it had enough evidence for termination.
But it doesn’t end there. Westmoreland applied for another counseling position after she was fired. She did not get the job, according to the clinical supervisor for that position.
“It has harmed a client, which we’re very sad about,” said Christmas. “But I think it’s harmed her too, I don’t think she can look at herself in the mirror.”
Westmoreland was released on bond after she was arrested and charged. NBC12 went to her residence but she wasn’t home.
Westmoreland will appear in court January 10 for a pre-trial hearing. Her trial is set to begin on February 19.
