Former SC school resource officer charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor www.privateofficer.com

HAMPTON COUNTY, SC Jan 9 2013
A former Hampton County Sheriff’s deputy has been charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
State investigators also charged Larry Heyward, 52, of Garnett with misconduct in office.
Arrest warrants state he was a school resource officer with the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office.
The State Law Enforcement Division says Heyward committed sexual battery with a victim between the ages of 11 and 14 between August 2010 and December of last year.
Heyward was booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center and will be prosecuted by the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
State investigators say Heyward faces up to 20 years in prison on the criminal sexual conduct charges and more prison time for the misconduct charge if convicted.
