Statesville NC Jan 25 2013 The former bouncer at a local nightspot was charged with breaking into the establishment, taking televisions, cash, various liquors and soft drinks.
Matthew Lee Massey, 22, of Statesville was arrested at his former place of employment, Club Blu on Turnersburg Highway, on Jan. 16 by Statesville Police Officer Aaron Herman.
Another man, Charlie Andrew Weaver, 22, of Statesville, was arrested in connection with the case Tuesday during a traffic stop by the SPD’s Special Operations Team.
Massey’s bond was set at $8,000 and Weaver’s was set at $15,000.
The two are charged with breaking into the club on Jan. 15.
Statesville Police Department Capt. D.B. Johnson said that the owner of the business reported the break-in. He told police that three 50-inch flat screen television sets, cash. 10 bottles of various liquors, soft drinks, a DVD player and a drill were taken in the break-in.
Investigator Al Pettit followed up on the case and reviewed the business’ surveillance video.
The video, Johnson said, showed two men. The owner, upon viewing the video, identified one of the suspects as Massey, the club’s bouncer.
Pettit was able to learn the identity of the second suspect, and warrants were issued for both men, Johnson said. The two were charged with breaking and entering and larceny.
