Memphis security guard charged with attempted murder www.privateofficer.com

Memphis TN Jan 28 2013 A security guard is facing charges after shooting a man outside a Westwood convenience store.
It happened early Saturday morning at the Dodge Store on South Third St.
According to police, security guard Rodney Benton shot a man after getting into an argument inside the store with Terrell Kennell.
Witnesses say Kennell walked outside the store to the parking lot and that’s when the shooting started.
Benton told police the man pulled a gun on him.
Investigators say it doesn’t appear that the guard and the man knew each other. They list anger as a motive for the shooting.
Rodney Benton is facing charges of criminal attempt 2nd degree murder, employing firearm with intent to commit a felony, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
He’s being held on $200,000 bond.
Benton worked as an unarmed security guard. He is not licensed to carry a gun in Tennessee.
