Gilbert AZ Feb 8 2013 A 74-year-old man arrested in Gilbert on Wednesday faces an armed robbery charge after police said he robbed a Burger King at gunpoint.
Police said James Richard Miletta entered the Burger King in the 600 block of South Val Vista Drive, and told the cashier “he was having a bad day,” Gilbert police spokesman Sgt. Jesse Sanger said in a release.
Miletta then brandished an handgun and demanded the money from the register, and then fled in a car after taking an undisclosed amount of cash, Sanger said.
Officers located the vehicle about five minutes later and conducted a high-risk traffic stop on Val Vista Drive near Elliot Road, Sanger said.
Police said Miletta was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail in Phoenix. He is being held on $48,000 bond.
The handgun was recovered and there were no injuries, police said.
