Police seek shoplifter who attacked security guard at East Towne Mall www.privateofficer.com

Madison WI Feb 27 2013 A 68-year-old male security guard at an East Towne Mall store was slightly injured Sunday when he was pushed to the ground by a shoplifter trying to get away, police reported.
The incident happened at about 1:40 p.m. Sunday at Boston Store, the Madison Police Department stated in a news release.
According to police:
A woman with two kids was coming out of the store when she saw the security guard getting knocked down by a much younger man, who started running through the parking lot.
“The mother thought she just witnessed a mugging and called 911,” said police spokesman Joel DeSpain. “One of her children picked up a two-way radio and security badge, so the mother realized it wasn’t a mugging but a different crime.”
Before the woman could ask the security guard what happened, he was in pursuit of the shoplifter in the parking lot.
An officer arriving on the scene joined in the foot chase, but the suspect got away.
The suspect is a black male in his late teens or early 20s, wearing a black coat with a brown fur-lined hood, baggy dark jeans and a knit hat.
