Charlottesville VA March 12 2013

A security guard has been charged with impersonating a police officer.    City Police say 28-year-old Vasco Degaman Wright is accused of pulling up next to a man in the Barracks Road Shopping Center and threatening to arrest him.

Police say Wright works for a private security firm.
The alleged victim told police that Wright identified himself as a police officer, unholstered a gun, and claimed the man had broken the law.
The alleged victim says he ran into a store because he thought the uniformed man was a fake cop.
Police say the incident happened at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
Wright was taken into custody later on University Avenue.
In addition to being charged with impersonating a police officer, Wright was also charged with brandishing a firearm.
