Virginia Beach, Va. – A Norfolk woman is now facing charges after police say she was engaged in a “consensual, sexual relationship” with a student. On March 4, 2013, Virginia Beach Police Special Victims Unit and Child Protective Services were notified by the administration of Renaissance Academy that a woman, employed as a school security assistant, was having inappropriate contact with a 15-year-old student. Police tell NewsChannel 3 that the student and security assistant were engaged in a consensual, sexual relationship away from school. They say the incidents took place sometime between February 2013 and March 2013. The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Patience Justine Perez, of the 8100 block of O’Connor Crescent in Norfolk. Perez has been arrested. Police say that since Perez was in a custodial role over the student, she was charged with Felony Custodial Indecent Liberties with a Child. Perez is currently out on bond. According to school officials, she has been terminated. Investigators are attempting to identify any other victims who may have had any involvement with the suspect. They are asked to call the Virginia Beach Detective Bureau at (757) 385-4101. This case remains under investigation.
