About

This blog is an outreach of PRIVATE OFFICER INTERNATIONAL, a professional private security and law enforcement association based in Atlanta Georgia.

P.O.I. and www.privateofficer.com operates to enhance the knowledge, training, information and professionalism of the private security industry.

It is also our goal to give the proper recognization to both sworn and non- sworn officers who risk their life everyday for our safety and to make our world a better place to live in.

The private security industry has come a long way from the day of the night watchman with a thermos, flashlight and a newspaper. Many security officers now have a much larger responsibility and help to bridge the gap in the frontline of Homeland Security. There’s still much to do to insure that all security officers are equally trained, better paid and equipped and that’s why we exist. We’re here to do our part to provide these services, products, information and networking.

PRIVATE OFFICER INTERNATIONAL recently became an international association with members in seven countries including  Australia, China, the U.K., Brazil, France, Canada and the United States.

In late 2008 a brand new radio station was added with a weekly broadcast of security and police news, training, and much more.

In early 2009 we also added  a monthly  digital magazine called PRIVATE OFFICER BEAT.

I am a Hennepin County Security Officer in Minneapolis. We have about 55-60 officers. I am also a Firefighter and had a firefighter funeral yesterday. It got me to thinking, is there anyone who does Security Officer in line of duty death memorials. Are there any protocols out there? If you could give any info I would appreciate it.

I know someone you posted about on this site. It would be great if you’d follow up the arrest notification with the outcome.

Something like this has been needed for a very long time. I have been in the business for over 7 years now, I am glad I finally found out about this organization. I currently am employed with the Georgia Department of Corrections, so reading both the good and the bad about correction’s officers has been enlightening.
