Loomis Armored Car employee arrested in $21,285 theft www.privateofficer.com
Police charged Pamela Lyn Schulzendorf, 26, of Scott on Tuesday with six counts each of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
Managers at Loomis Armored Car in Robinson contacted Robinson police in late June after discovering that money was taken from five ATM locations on six occasions, according to a criminal complaint. They believed an employee was responsible for taking the money, police said.
During a June 26 interview with Detective Daniel Dugan, Schulzendorf admitted that she started stealing money in increments of $2,000 to $4,000 shortly after she began working as an armed messenger for Loomis this spring, police said.
Schulzendorf told the detective that she is a single parent and needed the money to move out of her parents’ home because she was not getting along with her father, police said. She said she spent about $3,400 for a security deposit on an apartment and on mattresses for herself and her son. She said some of the money paid for “everyday expenses.” When the detective asked Schulzendorf to account for the other $12,885, she responded that it was “just gone,” according to the complaint.
Schulzendorf initially told Dugan that she still had $1,000 in cash at her parents home, but later said $5,000 was left. Officers escorted Schulzendorf to her parents’ home, where the money was recovered from a lock box under her bed. The cash was returned to Loomis.
Schulzendorf is free on a nonmonetary bond after her arraignment on Tuesday morning before District Judge Randy C. Martini. She has a preliminary hearing on Tuesday before McKees Rocks District Judge Carla M. Swearingen.
