A Burlington Coat Factory loss prevention agent was injured during a shoplifting arrest and suffered scratches to his face and neck after he tried to stop a woman who set off an alarm while leaving the store.

Security agent Adam Bradley, 21, told police that three women in their mid-20s entered the store at 4094 Merle Hay Road about 8:50 p.m. Saturday.
Bradley said the women tried to leave the store, triggered the alarm and when he approached them the woman refused to return to the store when he asked them to.

Bradley grabbed one of the women, according to a Des Moines police report, and she began scratching him.

Bradley was able to get the woman’s coat and purse in the scuffle, and police say that she then fled.

Inside the purse were “multiple clothing items stolen from the store,” according to the report, along with a card from the child support recovery unit.
Police are continuing their investigation and an arrest warrant will be sought for the woman for theft and assault and because of the injuries that Bradley sustained, the charges could be escalated to robbery.
