Boise police arrested a man Thursday after he grabbed and forcibly held and kissed two young boys in a crowded supermarket. The suspect was a stranger to the boys, police said.
Netra P. Mishra, 27 of Boise, is charged with kidnapping and battery.
Police detectives are searching for more possible victims.
On Saturday around 12:30 p.m., Boise police were called to the Winco grocery store on the 8200 block of Fairview Ave.
Store security employees were detaining a man after a woman reported to them that the man had just grabbed, forcibly kissed and held her 5-year-old son.
After viewing store security video, officers found the man had also attacked a 10-year-old boy in much the same way just prior to attacking the 5 year old.
It appears the older boy was also shopping with his mother. However, it appears the boy’s mother didn’t see the attack, and the boy didn’t tell her after he ran from the man. Detectives have since located the family and interviewed the boy.
Officers say the evidence indicates the suspect approached the first boy and talked to him briefly as the two walked behind the boy’s mother. The boy’s mother turned out of the aisle, and the attack occurred. The boy was eventually able to wrestle himself away and run.
The suspect attacked the second, younger boy just feet from his mother as she picked out items from store shelves. The suspect apparently used his body to block the mother’s view of the attack.
The mother turned and saw the suspect holding her son, yelled at the suspect, and he walked away. The woman then went and alerted store employees.
Boise police detectives have learned Mishra has only been in Boise for the past month, staying with family in an apartment complex near Hartman Street and Fairview Ave.
He speaks Nepalese and does not have any immigration holds, said police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower.
Anyone with information about Mishra or possible additional victims, or anyone who may have been shopping in Winco and seen the suspect or witnessed these attacks but has not been interviewed by police is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.

Man arrested after placing suspicious items at mall www.privateofficer.com

Man arrested after placing suspicious items at mall http://www.privateofficer.com

BOISE ID Feb 13 2009
press-tribune — Boise Police have arrested a man on a felony charge after five suspicious devices were found in the Boise Towne Square mall Monday night.
Daniel Scott Hunter, 23, Garden City, faces a charge of false report of an explosive device. He was being held in the Ada County jail on a $1 million bond Wednesday.
Officers reported that they located and arrested Hunter shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday in a parking lot downtown.
The arrest followed an intense investigation by Boise officers, after the evacuation of 2,000 people from the mall Monday after the discovery of the devices.
About 7 p.m. an employee of a store in the mall saw a small device she thought looked suspicious and alerted mall security. Mall security called Boise police, who immediately called for the bomb squad to respond. Officers also evacuated an area about 300 feet around the device.
The bomb squad inspected each device carefully and found each to be a hoax. However, detectives believe the devices were made and placed in such a way as to arouse suspicion and concern.
“Because of the concern these devices caused to so many people, and the impact the evacuation had on dozens of businesses, this investigation has been a top priority for our department,” Sgt. Randy Buzzini of the Boise Police Property and Financial Crimes Investigative Unit said.
Officials expressed appreciation to mall management and security for assistance in the investigation.
Prosecutors are continuing to review the case. Additional charges are possible. Hunter should be arraigned today.

A security guard and his girlfriend were arrested by Boise police Wednesday afternoon in a parking lot on State Street after the couple sold a stolen projector to an undercover officer, Boise police said.
Police set up the undercover buy of suspected stolen items and arrested Justin W. Bonner, 21, and Sierra Dawn Gearhardt, 20, who were each charged with felony grand theft.
Investigators had been working some open theft cases involving projectors that had been stolen and now say the couple had stolen at least seven projectors like the ones used to show PowerPoint presentations over the past two months, said Boise police spokesman Chuck McClure.
Six were recovered from the parking lot at 16th and State streets where the two were trying to sell them, McClure said.
Bonner had been employed as a contract security guard, which may have enabled him to steal the projectors, police said. Each projector is worth at least $500, McClure said.
Police are not saying where Bonner was employed or if anyone else is suspected to be involved but said that their investigation is continuing.
Bonner and Gearhardt were being held at the city jail pending a bond release.

Police charge shoplifting teens with burglary www.privateofficer.com

Police charge shoplifting teens with burglary http://www.privateofficer.com

Four Boise teenagers — three females and a male — are facing felony burglary charges after Meridian police say they they stole $45 worth of items Monday at Wal-Mart.
Marisela M. Camarillo, 18; Idalia B. Carreon, 19; and Josefina Escobedo, 19; and Harold T. Gallemore, 18, are all charged with burglary. They are being held in the Ada County Jail and are awaiting a court appearance Monday.
Meridian police officials said the group went into the Wal-Mart at 4051 E. Fairview Ave. just after 8 p.m. Monday and began stuffing items such as T-shirts, lip gloss, socks, earrings, and nail polish in a backpack worn by Gallemore before attempting to leave the store without paying for the items.
The four are charged with felony burglary because police say they entered the store with the intent to steal, Meridian Police Lt. Bob Stowe said.
The decision to charge the teens with felony burglary instead of the lesser charge of misdemeanor petit theft was the decision of the arresting officer, Stowe said.
Stowe said it can be hard to prove intent in many shoplifting cases, so those suspects are usually charged with a misdemeanors. He said the officer in this case felt he had evidence to support the felony charge.
Ada County prosecutors will make the ultimate decision on what the charges will be, Stowe said.
The charge of felony burglary is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
