Christopher M. Bean, 33, of Brockton was arrested on the evening of May 12 after allegedly stealing less than $50 worth of merchandise from K-Mart on Grossman Drive and charged with shoplifting and trafficking in OxyContin, Deputy Police Chief Russell Jenkins told the Forum.
Officers James Mosesso and Lisa Fahey were called to the store after loss prevention officers reported that they had seen Bean and a companion, a 23-year-old Weymouth woman whose name is not being released because she has not yet been charged, concealing several items in a shopping cart under Bean’s coat.
“Loss prevention officers stopped the couple outside the store after they paid for several items at the register, but not the items hidden under Bean’s coat,” Jenkins said.
When Mosesso searched Bean, he discovered a plastic baggie in his pants pocket containing 74 80mg Oxycontin pills with a street value of almost $6,000, according to Jenkins.
The Weymouth woman will be summoned to court on a single charge of shoplifting.

Jessica Morales, 18, of South Boston was arrested on the evening of April 3 after allegedly causing a disturbance at the South Shore Plaza while officers investigated a shoplifting report, Deputy Police Chief Russell Jenkins told the Forum.
Officers received a report from a Gap loss prevention officer that he had seen several women stealing from other stores while he was on a break.
The women were detained in front of Macy’s and questioned regarding their activities.
A purse, containing several items of merchandise that were possibly stolen, was unattended on the floor, and the owner was not present.
“While the officers continued to speak with the women, Morales began to get loud and yell profanities, drawing the attention of nearby shoppers,” Jenkins said. “Morales refused to calm down, and the officers attempted to place her under arrest. Morales dropped to the ground and held on to a bench in an effort to avoid being taken into custody. The officers ultimately restrained her and she was escorted off the mall.”
Morales was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and three counts of assault and battery on a police officer.

Braintree MA Mar 8 2009
Beginning shortly after noon on March 4 at the Burlington Coat Factory, police arrested six people on shoplifting related charges, Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins told the Forum.
Keona B. Brown, 19, of South Boston was charged with larceny over $250 after she allegedly selected over $250 worth of clothing, stuffed the clothing in a duffle bag, and ran out of the store.
“Loss prevention personnel reported that they watched her run into a nearby home,” Jenkins said.
The homeowner reported to Officers Robert Chin and Ronald Solimini that Brown had asked to use her telephone.
Brown was arrested without incident, and the duffle bag was recovered on the front steps of the home.
She was additionally charged with three outstanding arrest warrants for shoplifting.
Shortly after 3 p.m., officers arrested two Yarmouth brothers after receiving a report that Sears loss prevention officers were in the parking lot struggling with a shoplifter.
Upon arrival, Officer Ryan McHugh saw the officers struggling with Scott R. Dunham, 24, and took him into custody.
“The officers told Officer McHugh that while he was struggling with them, Dunham kept reaching for his pocket, where he allegedly had a knife concealed,” Jenkins said. “The officers further explained that they saw Dunham and another man inside the store allegedly stealing eight X-Box video games. Dunham concealed them under his jacket while the other man shielded him from view of the surveillance cameras.”
After placing Dunham under arrest, McHugh searched the parking lots for a Toyota Corolla that Plaza security observed in the parking lot while Dunham was struggling with loss prevention.
“A man was seen watching the altercation and drove off after Dunham was taken into custody,” Jenkins said.
A registration check revealed that the vehicle was registered to Dunham.
McHugh located the unoccupied Toyota in a nearby lot.
“After watching the vehicle for several minutes, a man matching the description of the person seen in the surveillance video returned to the car,” Jenkins said.
McHugh identified this man, later identified as Christopher A. Dunham, 25, as the same person in the video, and clothing that he wore inside Sears was located in the Toyota.
He was taken into custody, and both brothers were charged with larceny over $250.
Two eighteen-year-old Randolph women were arrested a short time later after allegedly stealing almost $300 worth of merchandise from Filene’s Basement.
Officer Paul Venuto placed the women under arrest after learning that one of them; Natalie T. Reyes, selected the merchandise and handed the items over to Ancia Fleuryfils, who then concealed the items in her bag, Jenkins said.
Both women were charged with larceny over $250.
Reyes was additionally charged with receiving stolen property under $250 after merchandise stolen from H&M was found in her bag.
Later in the evening, Officer Paul Hamilton arrested Ramkissoon Ballkishun, 63, of Quincy after learning from loss prevention officers at K-Mart that he allegedly stole two small items from their store and was in violation of a trespassing order after a previous shoplifting incident.
Ballkishun was placed under arrest for shoplifting and trespassing.

Police made three arrests for shoplifting and larceny at the South Shore Plaza on Nov. 8, Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins told the Forum.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m., officers responded to Filene’s Basement to investigate a report that two women were stealing cologne.
Loss prevention followed the women, later identified as Eunice Innocent, 21, and Shaquel S. Thomas, 20, both of Dorchester, out of the store after observing them allegedly conceal $382 worth of cologne in a baby carriage that Thomas was pushing.
The women were brought back to Filene’s Basement where Officer Michael Want placed them under arrest for larceny over $250.
Innocent was also charged on an outstanding arrest warrant for operating after suspension.
Less than 15 minutes later, a man sitting in his car in the parking lot while waiting for his wife called police to report a woman running from Macy’s with stolen merchandise.
The man later told police that the woman, later identified as Suzanne B. Reed, 31, of South Boston, ducked behind a parked car when she saw a Plaza security vehicle approach her.
“The man, a 50-year-old resident of Randolph, also told officers that he could see coats hanging out of her shopping bags and one of them still had the security tag attached,” Jenkins said. “He reported that the woman was walking toward Granite Street.”
Officer Brendan McLaughlin, who was working a traffic post at Granite Street and Forbes Road, reported locating the woman at the Mobil on the Run gas station across from the Plaza.
Coats stolen from Macy’s totaling over $500, along with $250 worth of additional merchandise stolen from Victoria’s Secret, Express, and Gap Kids, were recovered by officers, Jenkins said.
Reed was charged with one count each of larceny over and larceny under $250.

Comedian not laughing after shoplifting arrest http://www.privateofficer.com
BRAINTREE MA Aug 30 2008
Local stand-up comedian Annette Pollack probably isn’t laughing much these days.
Pollack, 52, isn’t as well known as Hollywood actress Winona Ryder, who was arrested and charged with shoplifting in Beverly Hills in 2001.
The two women, however, now have something in common: Both have been accused of shoplifting.
Police said Pollack was at Filene’s Basement at South Shore Plaza on Monday night when she was seen stuffing a watch, two sets of earrings, four pairs of socks and four bottles of perfume into a handbag and then left the store without paying.
The $314.88 take also included a ring that Pollack allegedly put on a finger.
Store security caught up with her in the parking lot and called police.
Pollack, who is also an actress, comedy show producer and certified public accountant, is now looking for a lawyer to handle her case.
The Patriot Ledger profiled her last month in the WoMYnZONE section of the newspaper.
Only last week, Pollack put on a comedy show at Jimbo’s South restaurant.
Contacted at her Braintree home Wednesday, Pollack declined to comment on her arrest.
She pleaded innocent Tuesday in Quincy District Court to a charge of larceny of property worth more than $250.
Judge James McGovern released Pollack on her own recognizance and told her to stay away from Filene’s Basement.
Pollack, who didn’t have a lawyer at her arraignment, was ordered to return to court Oct. 21. She listed herself as being self-employed in court papers.
A police report filed in court stated store security saw Pollack removing sensors on items and then hiding them in her handbag. The report said she used pliers to rip a tag from a Kenneth Cole watch.
Before leaving Filene’s Basement, Pollack stopped at the register to make a small purchase, police said.
Ryder, 36, who has a star on the Hollywood “Walk of Fame,” received worldwide notoriety following her shoplifting arrest at a Saks Fifth Avenue store in December 2001.
Ryder was sentenced to 480 hours of community service and three years’ probation and ordered to pay $3,700 in fines and $6,355 in restitution.
