Port Chester Store Security Guard Accused of Shoplifting at Neighboring Store www.privateofficer.com

Port Chester NY March 27 2013 A security guard at a Port Chester department store is accused of stealing $530 worth of merchandise from another nearby store, according to Port Chester Police.
Latoya Amoy Campbell, 23, of 30 Poplar St., Bridgeport, CT, was arrested Saturday after security officers at the Port Chester Kohl’s store accused her of taking the merchandise without paying for it. Police said Campbell, at the time, was employed as a security guard at the AI Friedman store, just a few doors over in the same shopping center on Boston Post Road.
Police said security officers at Kohl’s saw Campbell go into a fitting room at the store with mulitple items, but the items were not visible when she came out of the room. Police said the security officers checked the room and discovered the items were not left there, leading to the disovery of the items in a plastic bag carried by Campbell.
She is accused of taking nearly 30 shirts, pants, shoes and wallets.
Campbell was charged with petty larceny and faces a hearing in Port Chester Village Court.

Shoplifter turns violent at Westfield Trumbull Mall www.privateofficer.com

 
 

Trumbell CT April 7 2012 A Bridgeport man allegedly caught shoplifting drew more charges after fighting with security at the Westfield Trumbull Mall.

Rafael J. Rodriguez, 42, of Palisade Avenue, is charged with sixth-degree larceny and second-degree robbery. Police said he left Lord & Taylor without paying for $375 in cologne.

When officers tried to detain him, he allegedly threatened that he had a friend with a gun who would shoot officers.

After his arrest, officers found he was wanted for five counts of failing to appear in court.

Rodriguez was held in lieu of $150,000 bond for the mall incident and $50,000 for the warrants, police said.

Another Arrest at the Trumbull Mall

A woman allegedly carrying three foil-lined bags and an item used to remove security sensors faces several charges.

Natisha Nicole Phonville, 29, of Linwood Avenue, Bridgeport, is charged with three counts of possession of a shoplifting device.

The bags are used to get by door sensors, police said.

Her bond was set at $500.
