www.privateofficer.com The police in this town just outside of Charlotte North Carolina said that they are investigating the homicide of an area dentist.
Police say that after the dentist failed to come into work, an employee notified police and officers found the dentist tied to his bed and deceased.
Investigators were able to locate a suspect and arrested a woman now accused of strangling the dentist .
Candice Jo Drye, 23, of Mocksville is in the Rowan County detention center Friday night with no bond for the murder of Dr. David Boyd.
Investigators are still working the case and searched Boyd’s practice while the suspect made a video court appearance to be appointed an attorney.
Salisbury Police Chief Mark Wilhelm wouldn’t elaborate on the cause of death more than to say it was strangulation. He did say that officials expect to learn more from the full autopsy, and that Boyd and Drye knew each other.
Investigators now have learned that there were several others involved and have arrested at least two others.
Investigators say that while Boyd slept before 4:30 a.m. the morning of his death, three people simply walked into the home, gathered Boyd’s high-end electronics, walked upstairs, bound the dentist to the bed with electrical wire and killed him.
One suspect, 23-year-old Candice Drye, turned herself in Thursday evening.
The mother of 18-year-old Jonathan Barnett turner her son in on Saturday – which led to the arrest of Christopher Boyd, 21, a little later.
According to Salisbury Police Chief Mark Wilhelm, Christopher Boyd is the brother of Drye’s boyfriend and the cousin of Barnett.
The suspect is not related to the victim.

The dentist was found tied to his bed by his hands and feet. Wilhelm said more people could be involved. “Our investigation will continue for days, maybe weeks until we get to the bottom of everything and find out all that’s involved,” he said.

Friday afternoon, investigators returned to the home with Boyd’s widow who was said to have been out of town during the murder. Police confirmed that there was numerous electronics and other items missing from the home.
Another source close to the investigation said that Boyd may have also been involved in illegally distributing pain killers or other prescription drugs and that state investigators was looking into it. However police officials would not confirm that.Drye has a probably cause court date for the murder charge on July 9
Funeral arrangements have been set for Boyd. A prayer service will be held at the Summersett Funeral Home at 6:30 p.m. Monday, followed by visitation. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 1 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11 a.m.
