Police said Slade Williams was supposed to be watching his three children, but his child somehow got his hands on a loaded rifle.
After hearing the gunfire, neighbor Herman Johnson ran into his son Tyler’s bedroom to check on him.
Police said the bullet narrowly missed Tyler’s body, but the 1-year-old was covered in powder from damaged sheetrock.
The bullet had traveled through the wall from the other side of the duplex and entered the neighbor’s house.
“It could have shot me. It could have shot (Tyler),” said Johnson.
How did a 3-year-old get a hold of a gun in the first place? According to Johnson, Williams told him he left the rifle sitting on the bed because he was getting ready to clean it.
Officer Jim Knoll said the father had a clean police record before the incident but faces serious child neglect charges.
“This situation could have been potentially fatal,” said Knoll.
Johnson said he’s not angry at his neighbor but is still a little shaken up. He said his wife, who is in Afghanistan, was hysterical when she heard about what happened, but calmed down as soon as she realized her family was OK.
Williams’ three children are staying with their mother while he faces charges.

NTL. ASSOC. PRIVATE OFFICERS
www.privateofficer.com – Police say that they were called to three different shoplifting incidents involving the same woman during the Christmas holidays.
Police said that they were first called to the Dillard’s store on Tuesday, where loss prevention personnel had apprehended Sherri Tipton.
But officers said that Tipton returned to the same Dillard’s in Clarksville again on Wednesday, which is when officers took her into custody instead of writing her a citation. She was booked in at the jail and bonded out later that day.
Most people might be scared to steal at this point a police spokesperson said but police were called to the local Dollar General on Friday and that’s where they found Ms. Tipton again in trouble for stealing.
Police are not sure why Tipton has turned to a way of crime or if they’ll be dealing with her again anytime soon but warn that if they get any more calls about her, she’ll be locked up each time.

Clarksville teacher charged with sexual exploitation of minor http://www.privateofficer.com
wsmv.com — A Clarksville teacher, accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student, has now been charged.
Jessica Perciful was charged Thursday with sexual exploitation of a minor. Police said that Perciful was investigated by police for about three weeks.
“We’re very concerned about any improper conduct, about any allegations,” said Elise Shelton, spokeswoman for the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. “We want to take immediate response to that and remove anyone that may be under any suspicion, whether they’re guilty or not guilt
Perciful was removed from the Northeast High School classroom last month. According to the school’s Web site, she taught biology last year and freshman science this year.
Perciful is married to a Fort Campbell soldier and has a son.
“Parents need to be warned about it because now I’m kind of afraid because I don’t even know, you know, what’s really … and like I said, they haven’t called or warned us about anything,” said Rhoda Brown, who has a student at the high school.
Perciful is on paid leave.
“If the investigation comes back and says that this person is being charged, or whatever, we would place that individual on unpaid leave until the conclusion of whatever court case there might be,” Shelton had said prior to the charge.
Perciful did not want to respond to the allegations.
