COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. April 30 2010 — Colorado Springs Police responded to a shots-fired call at approximately 8 p.m. Thursday at Antique Billiards, 3628 Citadel Dr. N.

They found an injured security guard, identfied as 22-year-old Nate Landis, who said he fired shots at a vehicle that sped from the scene after he was knocked down by an open door on the car.

Landis told police a suspect vehicle, described as a grey Chrysler Sebring, was parked in the parking lot outside of Antique Billiards. He approached the vehicle because he observed the occupants, whom he believed to be juveniles, were persons suspected of passing a counterfeit bill the previous day. The suspects were allegedly drinking alcohol in the car.

He asked the occupants to exit the car, but the driver put the car in reverse and backed up at a high rate of speed. Landis was struck and knocked down by the open vehicle door. He explained he got up and fired two rounds from a handgun at the vehicle as it sped away.

Police cited him for reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor.

The investigation is continuing.
