Des Moines IA Aug 30 2012 Two teenagers were arrested Monday after they reportedly used stolen credit cards to purchase more than $1,300 worth of merchandise at Jordan Creek Town Center.

Police responded to the shopping center at about 4:30 p.m. Monday where mall security officers were chasing a group of individuals believed to be using stolen credit cards to make purchases, according to a West Des Moines police report.

One of the suspects, 17-year-old Daevone Brown, was arrested outside of On the Border restaurant. Other suspects with Brown managed to leave the mall in a white Chevy Tahoe but were pulled over a short time later in the 6700 block of Stagecoach Drive, police said.

Police said they found a silver .380 caliber handgun in the vehicle which was seized along with clothing items that had been purchased with the stolen credit cards. The suspects reportedly tried to make purchases at Finish Line, Journey’s and the Nike Store.

A clerk from Finish Line identified one of the people in the Tahoe, 18-year-old Andrew Buchanan, as the other individual who had made purchases with the stolen credit cards, according to a police report.

Buchanan was placed under arrest and another person in the vehicle was allowed to leave, police said.

Brown, who police was wanted for several outstanding warrants, admitted the firearm was his. He was charged with credit card fraud, a Class D felony; carrying weapons, aggravated misdemeanor; possession of a prescription medication, a serious misdemeanor; and interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor. He was transported to Myer Hall.

Buchanan was charged with credit card fraud and was transported to the Dallas County Jail.
