Easton PA May 6 2012 A Lafayette College freshman was pronounced dead shortly after he was found unresponsive this afternoon in a room in a residence hall, college President Dan Weiss said in a statement.

The school identified the student as Everett Glenn, of Montclair, N.J.

Easton police are leading an investigation. A cause of death wasn’t immediately clear.

Weiss said foul play is not suspected, and police said there’s no reason to believe the public is in danger.

Weiss said a prayer service would begin 10 tonight at Colton Chapel.

“My thoughts are with Everett’s parents and other family members at this extremely difficult time,” Weiss said in the statement. “I extend to them my heartfelt condolences. My thoughts are also with our students and all members of our community who share in this tragic loss.”

According to police, who did not identify the victim, a man found unresponsive at 2:01 p.m. at the Kirby House residence hall and was taken to Easton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:36 p.m.

Weiss said the college was making counselors available.

Police and the Northampton County coroner did not immediately respond to requests for more information.
