Just after midnight Thursday morning, Foley police received a call of a rape at a residence on West Myrtle Ave, according to the release. When officers arrived at the residence, the elderly victim indicated that a lone offender forcefully entered her residence through the back door and dragged her into a bedroom and beat, choked and raped her, according to the release.
White said the victim told officers that she had seen the offender in the area for the past several months and that the police department was called in the past by a neighbor to report the offender going door to door asking for work. The responding officers researched that call and identified a suspect, Stephen Scott, 19, of Foley.
The suspect lived in the same block as the victim. He was brought to the police department for an interview. Scott was charged with Burglary 1st and Rape 1st. The victim was transported to South Baldwin Regional Medical Center where she was treated and released, authorities said.
